Santa Clarita CA NDOC “Read ‘Em Cowboy”

Come out & celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy, HOLLYWOOD style, and support Western culture at Read ’em Cowboy! A portion of Barnes and Noble’s sales from this event will go directly to the National Day of the Cowboy (www.nationaldayofthecowboy.com), which promotes preservation of Western culture, history, and traditions through literature.

Celebrities & Western authors will be on hand to sign books and give talks (see below); children’s authors will do readings and other activities with kids, and there’ll be a cowboy/cowgirl costume contest for the youngsters, one free raffle ticket for adults who come dressed Western – (no guns, please).

Live cowboy music, the world famous Roy Rogers trailer from the Roy Rogers museum, Nudie’s 1964 Pontiac Station wagon, display from NUDIE the Rodeo Tailor to the stars including clothes which belonged to Roy Rogers, Rex Allen, Tex Williams, Monte Montana and more… along with museum displays from the HOLLYWOOD heyday of your favorite actors, Western art, living historians, live entertainment, raffles, gun spinning performances & demonstrations, cowboy movies, seminars, a baby animal petting zoo for the kids, cowboy vittles in the B&N cafe, and more!

Even if you can’t make this event, you can still participate!

1.Make a purchase at any B&N store (or online) from July 28 – August 2. Just print a copy of the voucher found at the link below and show it at checkout, or order online at www.bn.com/bookfairs, and enter Bookfair ID# (10683183) at checkout. Either way, a portion of your sale goes to the National Day of the Cowboy nonprofit organization.

2. If you’re an author not already attending or hosting one of these great events, have a book signing at your local Barnes & Noble between the dates above, in honor of the National Day of the Cowboy! Use the bookfair ID# (10683183) and your sales will count , too!

‘History meets Hollywood’ Rides again at this great event!
Take a ride down the ‘Old Hollywood’ trail with writer/ entertainer & Hollywood historian Julie Ann Ream, as she shares stories of the past about her famous family; veteran actors & singing cowboys Cactus Mack, Glenn Strange (Gunsmoke’s ‘Sam’, the bartender) , and Rex Allen, the Arizona Cowboy.

 Cowboy Movies & TV Shows featuring your favorite Western Stars

Gun Spinning performance by ‘Tombstone” Tony Redburn; who will offer a gun spinning demonstration for the kids.

 Western personality lookalikes

 Baby Animal Petting Zoo from the Iversen Ranch in Sunland, CA.

 Vintage Car Show

Drawing prizes include Western books, music, DVDs, home decor, magazine subscriptions, and much more. Adult guests who arrive wearing a bandana or cowboy hat will receive one free raffle ticket; guests will also receive one free ticket upon proof of a $10 B&N purchase.

”Cowboy Chili”, Starbucks coffee, and other treats will be available in the B&N Cafe.

 Neighbors Baja Fresh, Ben & Jerry’s, & Bake Me Happy Cupcakes are offering charitable contributions for every purchase made at their stores DURING the event hours!
