Kick up your boots, stay awhile and get in touch with your inner cowboy or cowgirl during our National Day of the Cowboy weekend celebration (July 24-26). We have an exciting line-up of cowboy-themed activities taking place:
Friday, July 24:
Ol’ Bastrop button-making, backyard games challenge, country freeze dancin’, Old McDade’s family bingo, Western face painting, s’mores and family movie (An American Tail: Fievel Goes West).
Saturday, July 25, the Official National Day of the Cowboy:
Tractor-drawn Hayrides, Wood branding ($20), cowboy hat design ($5), cowboy leather art, roping lessons, mechanical bull, horseshoe tournament, s’mores and family movie (Rango)
Sunday, July 26:
“Meet the Longhorn” mascots, cowboy scavenger hunt, “Wild, Wild West” photo fun room ($10), washers tournament, farm animal ceramic art ($5), boot-scootin’ lessons and line dancing, s’mores and family movie (The Rescuers Down Under)
Additional Western weekend activities include horseback and pony rides, archery and trap shooting (see our activities page for information and schedules). Activities are subject to change, and additions may be made.
