George Phippen Birthday Celebration Phippen Museum Prescott AZ

The Phippen Museum is proud to announce the presentation of a very special exhibition commemorating the 100^th birthday of its namesake and first president of the Cowboy Artists of America, George Phippen. On display from March 7^th through July 19^th, 2015, this exhibit not only offers a comprehensive look at George’s drawings, paintings and sculpture, but it also provides a rare glimpse at sketches never before seen by the public. Along with the completed artwork, these pieces graphically illustrate his artistic genius and the process he used to create some of his most famous pieces.

Please join us as we explore George Phippen’s artistic talent and his creative process, from concept sketches to the final artwork.Programming throughout the exhibit will explore his life and legacy, and the lost wax process he utilized to great success. In addition, a special catered dinner celebration will be held on Friday, July 10^th in the lower level of the museum, including a presentation on George Phippen’s life by his son, Darrell Phippen. And on Saturday, July 11^th, George’s birthday, the museum will offer free admission and birthday cake for the entire community. Also, a special three-day adult workshop with wildlife sculptor, Ken Rowe, will be offered during the exhibit.
