Belle Fourche South Dakota National Day of the Cowboy
July 27, 2012 @ 8:00 am - July 28, 2012 @ 10:00 pm
Crazy Days in Belle Fourche – Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28
Throughout the community
Six of the young actors in the John Wayne classic 1972 motion picture The Cowboys are scheduled to visit Belle Fourche for both days – and Saturday is Congressionally named The National Day of the Cowboy as well as officially recognized by the Governor of South Dakota.
Friday at dusk will be a free showing of the motion picture with comments by the actors involved in making the only major movie that mentions Belle Fourche. “Also, we will be auctioning off an original press book as well as a private lunch with the Cowboys on Saturday,” according to Stacey Raisanen, president of the Center of the Nation Business Association.
CONBA is planning the two-day celebration of the Tri-State area’s ranching heritage and the role of Belle Fourche as the business hub of the ranching community. “We will be having an anniversary cake and coffee with the guys before the movie from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tri-State Museum.
Friday are downtown street sales during the day.
Saturday will be the kids’ stick horse race and the downtown cash sand pile beginning at 9 a.m. with the stick horse race at 10 a.m.
Any parents who would like to assist with the coin sand pile raking, should bring a rake and be there at 8 a.m. We can always use help with that.”
