Moose Lake – Laotto Indiana National Day of the Cowboy Festival

Moose Lake Christian Craft Village in Laotto, Indiana, will host its 2nd Annual National Day of the Cowboy event. It will be open from 10-6 with free admission. This year’s event will be even bigger and better than last year’s with scheduled cowboy/western entertainment on stage by Nod Arvefel (guitar and singing), Judy Smith (dulcimer and singing) and Ron Marks (3 string cigar box guitar) as well as demonstrations by Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation with Jefferson, their bald eagle, and several other birds of prey. In the corrals will be thoroughbred quarter horses from New ERA Quarter Horses, bucking bulls from B&B Cattle & BbarA Bucking Bulls as well as some smaller farm animals. In the bleacher area will be cowboys giving roping and horsemanship demonstrations as well as a farrier doing a shoeing demonstration and near the end of the day, a Circuit Rider will be stopping by for a short service in the “church in the wildwood”. Local artisans will be set up to show and sell their wares as well as the demonstrators to talk with about their livestock and lifestyle. The famous stick horse races will return along with crafts and games for the buckaroos. The Moose Trax train will be running throughout the village along with swimming, fishing and various water sports at Moose Lake. Mackey’s General Store will be filled with memorabilia, western goods and many other items from freshly prepared food to hand crafted articles to specialty  jewelry. A member of the National Day of the Cowboy organization will be taking part in this event.
