2019 National Day of the Cowboy at Butterfield’s Mercantile and Ballroom

The town of Duncan, right on the old Chisholm Trail, will be celebrating the National Day of the Cowboy, July 27th  at the historic Butterfield’s Mercantile and Ballroom at 805 West Main. Activities include cowboy music and poetry through the day, a cowboy poetry contest and an evening showcase courtesy of the members of the International Western Music Association Oklahoma Chapter (IWMAOK). Cowboy fare will be on the menu at the Station Stop Cafe in Butterfield’s. Local cowboy photographer Dee Dodson of Buckles and Bling Photography will display and have artwork for sale. It all kicks off at 10 a.m. The cowboy poetry contest will be at 2 p.m. open to tenderfoot and top hand, read or recited, with 3 trophy belt buckles and 5 trophies to the winners.
